Aspire is open to anyone with a genuine interest in drama
and theatre of any age. We are a community group whose emphasis is on team work
and collaboration. We are not afraid of trying something new. We have created
street theatre, melodrama’s and serious drama. When we are not working on
productions we meet regularly to develop skills in performing, writing and
other aspects of theatre.
Productions to date include:
Cavern of Memories
Written and developed by the group
The Petticoat Rebellion
A history of the Suffragette movement
Hurt
By Nicola Werenowska
A story of family suffering
Most recent performance, on 13th June 2009,
was as part of
PULSE Fringe Festival @ Sir John Mills Theatre, Ipswich,
with Footprints Theatre Company
Dreamdance
By Nicola Werenowska
Experimental cabaret for theatre goes with a sense of
adventure.
Dreamdance explores the relationship between two
women in the
decadent but dangerous world of the 1920’s Weimar Cabaret
Dreamdance was repeated at Lion Walk URC on 10th July 2009
Audience was encouraged to come in 1920s
dress –
and to bring their own drinks – as the performance was
in cabaret setting, with the audience included in the set!
In between our larger production work we have
performed smaller pieces which we work on as commissioned.
